FAQ
What to expect.
Answers to the questions most people have before reaching out — about telehealth, insurance, licensing, and what care at Alignment actually looks like.
Getting started
Fill out the new patient intake form on the Book page. Alison reviews every request personally and typically responds within two business days to schedule an initial appointment.
Your initial visit is 60 minutes via telehealth. Alison will take a thorough history — including your reproductive and hormonal background, prior diagnoses, medications, and what has and hasn't worked. Together you'll develop a treatment plan that fits your life.
That's completely fine. Many patients come to Alignment after years of treatment that didn't fully account for their hormonal health. Alison will review your history and build on what's worked while addressing what hasn't.
Telehealth
Appointments are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll receive a link before your visit. All you need is a device with a camera and a private space.
Alison is currently licensed to practice in Connecticut.
Telehealth licensing is based on where you are physically located at the time of the appointment — not where you live.
Insurance & fees
Yes. Alignment accepts insurance through Headway and is currently in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Cigna. If Alignment is not in-network with your insurance plan, you may choose to pay for sessions out of pocket. I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan, so I recommend contacting your insurance provider to verify benefits. I also offer self-pay options for clients who prefer not to use insurance.
Self-pay means you pay directly for your appointments rather than going through an insurance company. Many patients find this actually simplifies care — there are no prior authorizations, no coverage denials, and no limits on what can be discussed or prescribed.
Fee information is provided during the intake process. Please reach out through the Book page and Alison will share current rates when she responds to your request.
What Alignment treats
Alignment specializes in the hormonal and reproductive dimensions of mental health. Care is open to anyone who experiences hormonal cycles or transitions — including transgender and nonbinary individuals. If you're unsure whether Alignment is the right fit, please reach out.
Yes. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Alison is licensed to diagnose and prescribe. Medication is one tool among many — treatment plans are individualized and may include medication, referrals to therapy, lifestyle recommendations, or coordination with other providers.
Alison provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management, not ongoing psychotherapy. She can refer you to therapists who specialize in perinatal mental health, women's issues, or other areas relevant to your care.
Alignment is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), go to your nearest emergency room, or call 911. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, contact Alison directly through the patient portal.
